New Dining Destination in Middletown

Starvin Marvin's has opened a second, indoor dining location in Middletown

The new restaurant on Central Avenue, which cooks up comfort foods such as burgers, loaded fries, nachos, chicken and more, gives customers a place to meet and hang out in the heart of downtown Middletown.

Nicole Nelson, owner of Starvin Marvin's always loved to cook. She learned her skills early on from her grandma and has worked in the food industry for years. After several different ventures, Nicole stumbled on the tiny building on Tytus Avenue in Middletown.

Her original plan was to turn the building into a soft serve ice cream shop, but the menu expanded and the customers requested a place to sit down to eat. A year later, Nicole opened Starvin Marvin's on Central Avenue which includes a large dining room full of tables and chairs.

Pay-It-Forward

At the Tytus location, Nicole has a pay-it-forward system in place so that no one can go hungry. There is a board with tickets that customers can come in and ask for a meal.

"They don't have to give some big explanation of what's going on in their life. They just take a ticket off the wall, hand it to the cashier, and the cook will make the food," Nicole explains. "If we can help, we help."

Every week, Nicole puts twenty meal tickets up on the wall for anyone who is hungry, and even if there are no more tickets left, anyone who asks will still get a meal.

Customers at both locations can also purchase a $5 meal to be included on the board to “pay it forward.”

Nicole tells us that the go-to burger is the Starvin Marvin which features signature Marvin sauce. Since moving to the Central Avenue location, the popular menu item has been the Grippo Bacon Burger.
