The Local Boutique + Social House was started by two best friends with a passion for trendy, fashionable clothing and accessories.

A Dream in the Making

Emily and Kathy have been friends for about 8 years and both discovered a few years back that they had the same dream: opening a clothing boutique.

In May, the friends decided to the leap and look for possible brick and mortar properties in Hamilton. Emily and Kathy both love the Hamilton community and all the positive revitalization that the city has been doing.

"There are so many wonderful establishments in Hamilton, and we want to be a part of that growth and fun," says Kathy.

The Beginning of a New Venture

Emily and Kathy eventually got their vendor's license, set up their LLC, and began purchasing inventory. In August, the pair signed the lease for 109 and 111 Main Street and began rehabbing the interior of the property to fit their vision.

Emily's husband, John, did most of the renovation work himself including the carpentry, flooring, and lighting.

"Our husbands have been so supportive of our new endeavor," says Kathy.

Kathy and Emily were inspired to start their own business by having a passion for trendy and fashionable clothing and accessories, with the goal of sharing the latest trends with the people in the local community. They also have a passion for hosting events where people can come together to create something with each other.
