A Day Exploring Village Green
Sometimes, it is nice to have everything in one place that you could possibly need. Recently, I spent the day at the Village Green area of Fairfield. I enjoyed the walk through the springtime Village Green Park area, with its amphitheater and playground, all while just steps away from dining options and shopping centers.
Shopping
I began the day with a few different local favorites in Village Green: Miller St. Boutique offers baby items, clothing, gifts, and home decor of all kinds. Many locally owned shops are located in the shopping centers around the Nilles Road and Pleasant Avenue intersection.
Whether it is Small Business Saturday in November or just any Saturday, I try to get out and get as many of my purchases from places in my local community where the customer service is great. It’s also a nice way to get to know Fairfield when you are visiting from out of town. I personally loved picking out baby gifts for friends from the adorable selection in one part of Miller St. Boutique (and found an off-the-shoulder sweater that was just perfect for me). I also loved getting some thoughtful cards in time for Mother’s Day.
Dining
Many restaurant options are available to suit anyone’s fancy. Fairfield Pizza and Pasta Company is an institution known for their tasty pizza pies and piled-high pasta. Om India provides delicious, affordable curries and other Indian fare. Whether you are in the mood for Mexican at La Piñata or pizza at Cassano's, there’s guaranteed to be something for you and your appetite.
I personally loved the saag paneer, a creamy spinach sauce that comes with rice and heavenly warm flatbread, at Om India.
Entertainment
The Fairfield Community Arts Center is truly the centerpiece of the Village Green experience. Seeing a concert, ballet recital, exhibit, or art demonstration there is often the highlight of my weekend. We saw the production of Miami Valley Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker the last time we were at the Community Arts Center, and the high production value and gorgeous facilities really made the dancers seem excited and proud to be part of such a professional production.
With so much to do and see within just a couple of blocks, Village Green and its neighboring areas are the perfect places to plan for a day of shopping, eating, and entertainment.
