Road Trippin': Oxford Edition

Plan your road trip to Oxford on National Road Trip Day!

Oxford, Ohio is a picturesque college town that is known for its charming boutiques, sprawling hills, and welcoming residents. Whether you're helping your Miami University student move in or out of their dorm or you're visiting the campus, keep scrolling for tips + tricks to make the most out of your trip! 

Stop #1: Breakfast at Oxford Doughnut Shoppe

WHERE: 120 S Locust Street | Oxford

Our first stop on this road trip is actually one of the 13 stops on the Butler County Donut Trail. This donut shop has been an Oxford staple for more than 50 years and prides themselves on making donuts the old-fashioned, kettle-fried way. Oxford Doughnut Shoppe is the perfect breakfast stop before your Oxford adventures, so be sure to grab a cup of coffee and a large, fluffy red velvet cake donut.

Road Trip Tip: Get here early in the morning to ensure that you get a fresh donut before they run out! The shop is open 6 AM - 12 PM, Wednesday - Sunday.

Stop #2: Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum 

WHERE: 801 S Patterson Ave | Oxford

Our second stop is located at the southern edge of Miami University, the Richard and Carol Cocks Art Museum. This museum features five ever-changing galleries, and more than 10,000 objects in the permanent collection. Gallery Hours are Tuesday-Friday: 10 AM - 5 PM, Saturday: 12 - 5 PM. The outdoor sculpture park is open year round! 

Road Trip Tip: A visitor parking pass is required to park in the museum parking lot. These can be picked up for free at the front desk of the museum! 

Stop # 3: Lunch at Bagel & Deli

WHERE: 119 E High St | Oxford 

Bagel and Deli

Time for lunch! For over 45 years, this funky bagel shop has been delighting visitors with wild bagel combinations and an eclectic atmosphere. Bagel & Deli is world-renowned for unique steamed bagel sandwiches, and at last count, they had well over 90 creatively named specialty sandwiches. Add a bag of chips and a drink to complete your bagel meal! Bagel & Deli also has a fabulous outdoor patio seating area to enjoy your delicious meal and take in the beauty of Uptown Oxford. 

Road Trip Tip: Park your car along the street with the pay meters or in the Uptown Oxford Parking Garage. All of the stops Uptown are walkable! 

Stop # 4: Boutique Shopping

Juniper

Mosey down the street to Juniper and The Apple Tree to elevate your wardrobe and home decor. Juniper, located at 9 E High St, offers a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, and even skincare products. There's always something new to discover at Juniper, so be sure to treat yourself to their excellent selection!

The Apple Tree, located at 28 E High St, has been delighting shoppers with their variety of items from brands customers know and love! Find gifts for everyone from Lily Pulitzer, Vera Bradley, and so much more. With new items every day, this is the perfect destination for shopping in Oxford!

Stop # 5: Drink Break at Kofenya 

WHERE: 38 W High St | Oxford

A drink break at Kofenya is a must.... even if you are not a coffee drinker. This quirky shop crafts a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, soups and baked goods. Settle in at Kofenya where overstuffed sofas and eclectic art create a cozy and intimate setting for enjoying your treats. 

Road Trip Tip: On a beautiful day, enjoy your drink at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park. This is a nice shady place to relax and enjoy Ohio's weather, listen to live music or the birds chirping, or watch the squirrels scurrying around. There are even fountains / splash pads to run through that the young and young at heart will enjoy!

Stop # 6: Black Covered Bridge

WHERE: 5401 Corso Rd | Oxford

Our last stop of the day is a quick 5-minute drive from Uptown. Built in 1868, this historic bridge was originally known as the Pugh's Mill Bridge in association with nearby grist and saw mills built by J.B. Pugh. Enjoy a scenic walk through history on this gorgeous bridge.

Road Trip Tip: There is a free parking lot located right next to the bridge that makes for easy and stress-free parking!
