Butler County's Dynamic Duos

Local Partnerships Powering Butler County

Butler County is home to some incredible local businesses, and behind many of them are dynamic duos working together to make their dreams a reality. These partnerships—whether between family, friends, or spouses—combine unique talents to bring something special to the community.

Carrie + Abby

Scripted Studio & Polished | Hamilton, OH

Mother-daughter duo Carrie and Abby work brilliantly together with their creative minds. Aside from being a talented graphic designer, Carrie owns Scripted Studio, a delightful stationary and gift shop on Main Street in Hamilton. In 2024, Carrie's daughter Abby opened Polished, a clean, non-toxic nail salon inside of Scripted Studio. While both businesses are very different from each other, the sister stores blend and work beautifully together, much like the mother-daughter duo.

Alayna + Daylon

Garver Family Farm Market | Monroe, OH

Alayna and Daylon, the passionate husband-and-wife duo behind Garver Family Farm Market in Monroe, are carrying forward a legacy that spans generations. Together, they oversee the 180-acre farm that has been in Alayna’s family since 1926, with roots stretching back to ancestors who began farming the land in 1908. Today, Alayna and Daylon work side by side to honor the history while bringing fresh, local produce to their community.

Christopher and Jessica, the husband-and-wife team behind Crooked Dog Comics in Middletown, turned a lifelong dream into reality. Christopher had always envisioned opening a comic book shop, and when the opportunity arose, Jessica was right by his side to help make it happen. Together, they’ve created more than just a store—they’ve built a hub for community connection. For this duo, Crooked Dog Comics is as much about the friendships they’ve forged since opening as it is about sharing their love of comics.

Sara + Maria

Sara's House | Hamilton

This mother-daughter duo has been working together for years, with Maria starting to work alongside her mom at 14 years old. What began as a part-time role grew into a full-fledged partnership as Maria joined Sara full-time in 2020 to help run Sara’s House in Hamilton. Together, they combine Sara’s experience and vision with Maria’s fresh perspective. Their shared passion for curating timeless home décor, clothing, and accessories shines through in every detail of Sara's House.

Glen + Laurie

The Donut Dude | Liberty Township, OH

Glen and Laurie, the husband-and-wife team behind The Donut Dude, turned a sweet dream into a thriving reality. Glen’s journey began after years in woodworking, inspired by the enticing aroma of donuts from a shop near his workshop. Encouraged by Laurie, he took a job at a donut shop to learn the craft and eventually developed a business plan for his own venture. In March 2020, Glen and Laurie opened The Donut Dude in Liberty Township, transforming a former bagel shop into their dream donut destination.

Stephanie + Tara

Best friends, Stephanie and Tara started their business ventures with two booths at the Ohio Valley Antique Mall. The duo share a passion for women’s fashion, vintage-inspired style, and, as it happens, the same maiden name! The name, Miller ST, combines their shared last name and first initials. In 2018, the pair opened their brick-and-mortar store in Fairfield, where they use vintage and antique pieces to display their curated selections of women’s clothing, accessories, and home decor.

Emily and Elizabeth, sisters and partners on their family dairy farm in Okeana, combine their strengths to keep the farm thriving. Emily took over operations from their father, modernizing the farm with innovations like a robotic milker and expanding its offerings with milk-based soaps and lotions. When Emily needed help balancing the demanding farm work, her younger sister, Elizabeth, stepped in to assist with the creamery and now runs the creamery three days a week.
